WHO WE ARE

Valley Christan School has been formulated as a result of the blending of two Christian schools: Lan-Chester Christian Sclool and Southside Baptist Academy. The following is a brief brief history.

Lan-Chester Christian School had its beginnings in 1970 as Calvary Christian School, founded by Calvary Bible Church of Coatesville to assist Christian parents in the rearing of their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

In 1985, Calvary Bible Church requested that a separate board be formed to operate the school independently of the church. The school was incorporated as Lan-Chester Christian School with its own constitution and bylaws.

In January 1986, Lan-Chester Christian School purchased 15.7 acres with an 80’ x 100’ steel building on Airport Road in Valley Township on which the school complex would be built.

Southside Baptist Academy began in 1994 as a ministry of Southside Baptist Church to provide a good Christian education to Christian families with grades K-12 in southwest Philadelphia.

In 1999, it moved to Glenolden (Delaware County) and to Downingtown in 2007.

In June, 2008 Lan-Chester Christian School and Southside Baptist Academy merged to form Valley Christian School.
